Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are notoriously private about their relationship, but the 2024 Oscars provided not one, but two social media gems courtesy of the actress.
After Gosling's rousing performance of Barbie's "I'm Just Ken" โ which featured backup dancing from Simu Liu (Tourist/"Rival" Ken), Kingsley Ben-Adir (Basketball Ken), Ncuti Gatwa (Artist Ken) and dozen of other suited Kens for the performance โ Mendes took to Instagram on March 10 with a simple request for her husband.
"You took Ken all the way to the Oscarโs, RG," she captioned a photo of her wearing the black cowboy hat, black shades and studded hot pink suit jacket Gosling wore during his energetic performance. "Now come home, we need to put the kids to bed. ๐"
The post arrived after Mendes, just hours before, shared a video of her posing in a double denim look of herself outside her husband's dressing room at the Oscars. "Always by my man," she captioned the post.
The night was an eventful one for the Barbie actor โ outside of dazzling the crowd with his "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend"-inspired performance of "I'm Just Ken," Gosling walked the red carpet with his sister, Mandi, and while presenting, he appeared alongside Emily Blunt and made jokes about last summer's blockbuster "Barbenheimer" event.
Gosling was nominated twice at the 2024 Oscars for Best Supporting Actor in Barbie, and "I'm Just Ken" for Best Original Song. The actor missed out on earning both statuettes, with Robert Downey Jr. winning in the actor category for Oppenheimer and Billie Eilish and Finneas winning for "What Was I Made For?" from the Barbie soundtrack.
